Atiku decries economic hardship driving youth to sell kidneys

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concern over the increasing number of young Nigerians resorting to selling their kidneys due to economic hardship. In a recent post on social media, Atiku cited President Bola Tinubu's economic policies as the primary cause of this distressing trend. He recounted hearing "disturbing stories" about young Nigerians selling their kidneys, a phenomenon driven by the soaring cost of living in Nigeria.

Atiku criticized the President, stating that young Nigerians should be focusing on dreams, ideas, and innovation, not selling their body parts. He emphasized that young Nigerians should be building careers and pursuing their dreams, rather than calculating how much parts of their bodies can be sold for survival. Atiku acknowledged that Nigeria has laws against commercial organ sales and trafficking, but argued that laws alone cannot address the root cause of this crisis.

He called for economic reforms with a compassionate approach, including affordable food, cheaper transportation, accessible healthcare, decent jobs, and renewed hope for the next generation. Atiku vowed to make Nigeria more affordable if given the opportunity to lead.
