Anwar minta MOF, KKDW bincang baik-baik isu peruntukan jalan

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has requested both the Finance Minister (MOF) and the Rural and Regional Development Minister (KKDW) to discuss in detail the issue of land allocation for outer urban road projects. In Ampang, Anwar stated that he has requested both ministries to discuss the matter thoroughly so that the planned project can proceed.

"I have asked both ministries to discuss it thoroughly," he said upon emerging from his Friday prayers at Masjid Bukit Indah. The dispute arose after Rural and Regional Development Minister Zahid Hamidi accused contractors of delaying payments for development projects, causing cash flow problems. Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, claimed that some contractors under his ministry are still waiting for payment despite completing work and reaching project milestones as set out.

In response, Deputy Secretary General of the Treasury Johan Mahmood Merican stated that the delay was due to spending nearly all the allocated funds for outer urban road projects this year. Johan said that the ministry consistently spends more than the annual budget approved for outer urban road projects since 2023. However, his statement was challenged by Treasury Deputy Secretary Fadzmel Fadzil, who said it is impossible for the ministry to spend more than the approved annual budget given the funding request submitted to the Treasury and processed through the Putrajaya financial management system.

This comment was then criticized by Treasury Secretary Anwar's Secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, who asked him to double-check the facts.
