Acer Predator Atlas 7 Packs Massive Battery into Compact Handheld

Acer has introduced its latest addition to the Windows gaming handheld family, the Predator Atlas 7, at its IFA press conference in Berlin. This smaller 7-inch alternative to the earlier announced 8-inch Predator Atlas 8, stands out with its massive battery capacity compared to its size. The device was also accompanied by Project DualPlay Mini, a concept handheld that combines a gaming system with a small productivity laptop design.

The Predator Atlas 7 boasts a 7-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen with a high 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals. It features a bright 500-nit display with variable refresh rate support and Hall-effect analog triggers for precise control. Users can opt for TMR joysticks, which help reduce the risk of stick drift. The handheld weighs 750 grams with its large 80Wh battery, while a lighter 60Wh version weighing under 700 grams is also available.

Powered by Intel’s latest mobile hardware, the Predator Atlas 7 can be configured with up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics. It supports up to 24GB of RAM and offers a standard M.2 2280 slot for storage, accommodating up to 1TB. The cooling system consists of a dual-fan setup, ensuring the device stays cool during intense gaming sessions.

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a UHS-II microSD card slot, and Wi-Fi 7 support. A fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button for secure biometric authentication. The 80Wh battery is an unusually large feature for a 7-inch gaming device, while a smaller 60Wh battery option caters to users seeking a lighter device.

Acer also unveiled Project DualPlay Mini, an 8-inch concept device with a flip-and-swivel display revealing a built-in backlit keyboard. This design allows users to operate the handheld as a conventional controller-based device or switch to a keyboard for gaming and productivity tasks. However, no commercial release date has been announced for Project DualPlay Mini.

The Predator Atlas 7 is set to launch in North America in the fourth quarter of 2026 and in EMEA in November. Acer has not disclosed the pricing for the Predator Atlas 7 yet, while the larger Predator Atlas 8 is scheduled to launch in September.
