Abu Dhabi: Home to the region’s first AI-powered vehicle manufacturing facility

Abu Dhabi has become the home to the region’s first AI-powered vehicle manufacturing facility. ROX, a company specializing in advanced vehicle technology, has completed its state-of-the-art manufacturing centre and initiated local vehicle production. The inaugural three ROX ADAMAS vehicles will bear the “Made in the Emirates” label after being assembled at this new facility. This milestone marks a significant step in ROX’s localization and expansion within Abu Dhabi.

The facility is the result of a collaboration between ROX and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), bolstering the company’s plans to localize operations across supply chains, technology, and design. This aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to bolster its position as a leading destination for future industries. Support for this development comes from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, which is part of the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative, and the broader National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.

The Abu Dhabi facility spans 10,000 square metres within the industrial zone of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group. It encompasses the sub-assembly of over 80 vehicle components, full vehicle assembly, calibration, rain testing, road testing, and final inspection. The new hub also bolsters ROX’s local manufacturing capabilities, connecting the company more deeply to Abu Dhabi’s automotive sector.

ROX’s founder and CEO, Jarvis, expressed optimism about the facility’s impact, stating it represents an important milestone in the company’s journey and a foundation for expanding its footprint in Abu Dhabi and beyond. This aligns with ROX’s broader strategy to localize operations in Abu Dhabi, which was announced alongside the establishment of its global headquarters in the emirate.

The AI LAB and Design Studio, both recently unveiled, further reinforce ROX’s commitment to developing its engineering, materials, technology, talent, and supply chain capabilities in the UAE.
