6 ditahan kes pembantu juruterbang bawa dadah ke Indonesia

The Narcotics Enquiry Department (JSJN) head in Bukit Aman, Hussein Omar Khan, announced that six local men were arrested in connection with a drug smuggling case involving a Malaysia Airlines ground crew member at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia on July 29th last year. Four of the six suspects fled to Thailand and Vietnam after learning the ground crew member was detained in their neighboring country.

Two suspects fled to Thailand when they returned to Malaysia via the Kuah ferry in Langkawi, and two more were apprehended upon returning to Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The remaining two suspects were detained in Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang and Klang, Selangor. The head said the six suspects aged between 23 to 50 years were arrested between August 20th and 28th last year following an interrogation of the ground crew member's accomplices in Jakarta.

All suspects were involved in manufacturing and smuggling drugs to the detained ground crew member. Based on the investigation and intelligence, they held positions as upline (senior members) and downline (junior members) in a drug syndicate connected to the ground crew member. They were detained under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Special Steps to Prevent) 1985.

The ground crew member was detained at Terminal 3 International Arrivals of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on July 29th after arriving from Kuala Lumpur on flight MH727. Police in Indonesia claim the suspects claimed they were promised RM50,000 to bring the drugs to Jakarta before they were taken by another individual from a hotel.
