41 more Ghanaians return home from South Africa after xenophobic attacks

The Government of Ghana has successfully evacuated a total of 41 Ghanaians who were subjected to xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The latest batch of evacuees arrived in Ghana on September 2 and were met at the Accra International Airport by a delegation from the government. This group was welcomed by Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, Head of the Delivery Unit, along with officials from various ministries and organizations including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Organisation, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Health Service, Port Health Authority, Ghana Red Cross Society, and the Ghana Armed Forces.

Upon arrival, Ambassador Ntrakwa expressed the government's unwavering commitment to the well-being of the evacuees, assuring them of their safety and successful integration back into their communities. He encouraged the returnees to maintain a positive outlook as they embarked on a new phase of their lives, urging them to utilize their skills, experiences, and knowledge to contribute to national development.

The government has taken steps to ensure a smooth reintegration process for the returnees. Measures have been put in place to support them as they settle back into their communities. The returnees themselves expressed their gratitude to the government for prioritizing their safety and welfare during the evacuation process. They also thanked the government for the comprehensive support provided throughout the entire procedure.
