2027: SDP to hold fresh governorship primaries in Nasarawa, Gombe

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced plans to hold fresh primary elections for governorship candidates in Nasarawa and Gombe states. According to a notice from the party, the primary elections will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026. These elections aim to replace the current governorship candidates in both states, with former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, expected to secure the SDP governorship ticket in Nasarawa.

The party has invited the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to oversee the primary elections, as some elected candidates have withdrawn from the race. The announcement of these primary elections was made through a statement from the SDP, specifying the locations of the voting: Gombe will conduct its primary election at the State Secretariat, while Nasarawa will hold its primary election at the Ta'al Hotel in Ladia, the state capital.
