2027: NDC candidate accuses Lagos agency of selectively removing campaign banners

Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, a candidate for Surulere Federal Constituency I in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) of selectively removing her campaign banners while leaving those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in place. This allegation surfaced during an interview with Channels Television, where Adebayo, a medical surgeon, claimed the removals began after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) opened the campaign period for the 2027 elections.

She stated that her supporters had witnessed LASAA officials removing her campaign materials from various locations in Surulere. Adebayo later confronted the officials, who informed her they were acting on behalf of LASAA, explaining that streetlight poles and other public infrastructure had been allocated to government-approved outdoor advertising practitioners.

However, Adebayo questioned this explanation, noting that some of her banners remained, including one at a specific location where an APC banner was also present. She expressed her belief that she was being targeted due to her political affiliation, stating it was evident from the removal of her banners. Despite the allegation, Adebayo said she had no plans to sue LASAA, instead opting to replace the removed banners.

She also discussed her unique approach of merging her medical career with political activities, encouraging professionals to engage in governance. Adebayo further outlined her plans for the House of Representatives, emphasizing the need for increased women's participation in politics, economic empowerment, and promoting women's leadership.
