200 Kg Meth Seized At Karachi Port

The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) made a significant drug seizure, apprehending 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine at Karachi Port, officials reported. The arrestees include an Afghan national, Ehsanullah, and a local facilitator. This operation transpired just two weeks prior to the planned Tomorrowland DJ Axwell concert in DHA Karachi.

During questioning, Ehsanullah divulged intelligence on drugs destined for Colombo. The ANF promptly shared this information with Sri Lankan authorities and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), leading to a simultaneous operation at Colombo Port. The ANF emphasized the significance of its intelligence-led operation and the fruitful cooperation with international agencies in dismantling drug trafficking networks.

Sri Lankan authorities and the US DEA expressed appreciation for the ANF's professional capabilities and cooperation. The ANF described the operation as targeting an Afghanistan-based international drug trafficking organization exploiting Pakistani territory as a transit route for narcotics to global markets. Local handlers were also arrested during the Karachi operation.

This action follows a joint operation conducted two days earlier, where Sri Lankan and US authorities seized nearly half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine, valued at approximately $21 million, at Colombo Port. The drugs were concealed in bath towels and linked to a Pakistan-based drug trafficking network. The seizure occurred on September 2, with the DEA and Sri Lanka's Police Narcotics Bureau apprehending several suspects, including Pakistani nationals.
