20 contestants advance through second day of Rofaqa Global Orphans Quran finals

On the second day of the Rofaqa Global Orphans Quran Competition's inaugural finals, held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha, 20 contestants advanced to the later stages of the competition. This year's event brought together young Quran memorisers from 20 countries, representing a pool of more than 300 participants who had previously competed in preliminary rounds.

The competition featured three categories: memorization of the entire Holy Quran, 20 parts, and 10 parts. On the second day, morning and evening tests were conducted for contestants from Somalia, Mali, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Syria, Burkina Faso, and Nepal. Judges, including Sheikh Mohammed Ali Al Hammadi, Sheikh Abdullah Hamad Abu Shuraida, and Sheikh Subaih Mohammed Al Marri, assessed participants on their memorization abilities, mastery of Tajweed rules, and the quality of their recitation.

All contestants underwent rigorous preparation and qualifying stages before reaching the finals. The Rofaqa Global Orphans Branch, the first global branch of the competition exclusively for male orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity, targets participants aged between 12 and 20. Its purpose is to foster a deep connection with the Holy Quran and identify promising Quranic talents among the youth.

The competition's digital platforms provided live coverage of the final tests, broadcasting the examinations through the Islamweb YouTube channel. This allowed audiences in Qatar and around the world to follow the competition and the participants' performances in real-time, further highlighting the significance of the Holy Quran and the spirit of healthy competition.
