2 Bonded Labourers Rescued From Cowshed In Beed; Hunt On For 5 Others

In Beed district, a midnight rescue operation freed two bonded laborers from a cowshed where they were allegedly held captive, beaten, and forced to work 14 to 15 hours daily for two months. The five other workers are still missing. Police acting on a tip-off launched an immediate search led by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Wadwani tehsil revenue administration.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh P Surana and Special Cell Secretary Dr Wahab A Sayyad initiated the rescue mission. Two workers were rescued by Wadwani Tehsildar Vaibhav Mahendrakar and his team despite no police protection and power cuts. The victims claim they were brought from Manmad under false employment promises, paid low wages, and had their advance taken.

They faced beatings, phone call denials, and death threats. The rescued workers are recovering physically at the Beed District Civil Hospital. A case has been filed against the owner under the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act. The District Government Labour Officer will begin their rehabilitation, and the Majalgaon Sub-Divisional Officer will issue formal release certificates once discharged. Police continue searching for the remaining five workers and the recruiting agent.
