Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings calls for unity, discipline and accountability in environmental management

Minister of Science and Environment, Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, has emphasized the need for unity, discipline, transparency, and accountability in addressing Ghana's environmental challenges. She made this call after officially assuming her role following a handover ceremony. Speaking at the event, Dr Agyemang-Rawlings stressed that protecting the environment should be a collective responsibility, with the government leading the way towards sustainable change.

She highlighted that while the government plays a central role in environmental management, it must also contribute to global efforts against environmental degradation and climate change. Dr Agyemang-Rawlings urged stakeholders to collaborate, pooling their knowledge and ideas to develop sustainable solutions for the country's environmental issues.

She stressed that unity and a sense of togetherness would be vital in achieving lasting progress. The Minister also highlighted the importance of discipline in managing public resources, urging officials to maintain transparency and accountability in the use of taxpayers' money, stating that these resources must be managed responsibly and in the best interest of Ghanaians.

"Accountability should remain a key principle in the work of government," she added. Dr Agyemang-Rawlings pledged to work closely with various stakeholders, including institutions, communities, and individuals, to advance Ghana's environmental agenda. She encouraged everyone to contribute their expertise towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

The Minister noted that achieving meaningful environmental change would require a sustained commitment from all parties involved. The handover ceremony marked the beginning of Dr Agyemang-Rawlings' tenure as Minister of Science and Environment, as she takes on the responsibility of advancing the government's agenda on science and environmental protection.
