Broadcom's acquisition of VMware in 2023 has led to a dramatic increase in hypervisor license costs, with some customers experiencing hikes of up to 600 percent. This has created significant challenges for enterprises striving to implement AI initiatives, as hardware refreshes have become difficult due to supply chain issues. Migrating to a new infrastructure is not only a costly process, but can also take anywhere from 18 to 48 months, with expenses ranging from $300 to $3,000 per virtual machine.

Gartner estimates that projects encompassing compute, networking, storage, management tools, and security will be complex undertakings.

To address these challenges, Nutanix is hosting a free, day-long event on October 7 in London, called The Brewery. The event, titled NEXT on Tour London, is aimed at infrastructure leaders, cloud architects, platform engineers, and datacenter managers. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss solutions to the problems faced during AI migration.

The event will provide guidance on a software-first approach, emphasizing the reuse of existing assets and the importance of deploying software that integrates and manages infrastructure effectively. Both on-premises and cloud-based deployments will be discussed.

One of the key takeaways from the event will be learning how to control token costs and tackle the issue of shadow AI with Nutanix Agentic Gateway. A guest speaker, Bonita Norris, will share her experiences, having been the youngest person to reach both the North Pole and the summit of Everest, providing attendees with a unique perspective on the challenges they may face.
