With Open Division at stake, Venice football faces Lakeland in Week 3

As the Venice football team heads into Week 3, head coach John Peacock warns his players that this game could decide their fate in the Open Division. Despite this, Venice boasts a talented roster with several transfers and high-profile recruits such as quarterback Kelin Hendrix, who has nine scholarship offers, and senior linebacker Santana Harvey, a four-star commitment to Clemson. The team's offense is built on establishing the run and handing the ball to versatile junior QB Noah Patton and freshman Mason Polley, who are splitting time.

Coach Peacock emphasizes the importance of eliminating mental errors from his players, as the team's skill sets appear to be at its peak. With a strong defense anchored by Harvey and a balanced offense, Venice faces an atypical season compared to its previous years, having mostly juniors in its ranks. Peacock remains focused on securing a victory against Lakeland, as the outcome could drastically alter the trajectory of the season.
