Wai Wai noodles banned in India? Here's what we know as FSSAI takes action over 'unhygienic practice'

India has ordered the CG Foods India factory to cease production of specific Wai Wai products following unhygienic practices revealed during an inspection by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Inspectors found that broken noodles were collected from the floor, reused without heat treatment, and incorporated into bhujia products.

This unregulated practice led to the discontinuation of Wai Wai MaMa and Wai Wai Mama Punte bhujia variants, which have been banned due to safety concerns. The FSSAI also uncovered issues with missing manufacturing licenses, improper packaging dates, and inadequate hygiene conditions at the factory located in Roopangarh, Ajmer. As a result, authorities seized 32,107.2 kilograms of stock and detained 1,925 boxes of expired goods.

CG Foods India, part of the CG Corp Global conglomerate led by Nepali billionaire Binod Chaudhary, has been initiated with strict legal proceedings for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The regulator's actions are part of a broader food safety campaign targeting hygiene lapses and illegal manufacturing practices throughout the Indian food industry.
