Vladimir Guerrero Jr. looks like his old self as Blue Jays pummel Guardians

Cleveland Guardians' Gavin Williams delivered a stellar performance in their 6-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. The right-hander struck out a career-high 13 batters over seven innings, allowing only two singles. Patrick Bailey, rookie Angel Genao, and Angel Martinez all contributed with two-run home runs, bringing the Guardians' win total to 11-4 since August 12.

The team is currently in a tight race for the third wild-card spot. Williams (13-7) began the season with a strong showing against the Blue Jays, allowing just one unearned run. The right-handed pitcher struggled in a previous game last week but silenced the Blue Jays until the fourth inning. Williams struck out all three batters in the seventh and struck out five of his last six batters.

Hunter Gaddis and Matt Festa added an inning each to complete the three-hit performance. Bailey put the Guardians ahead 2-1 in the fifth inning with his eighth career homer. Angel Genao led off the inning with a walk, followed by Bailey's 426-foot blast over the left-field fence in the next at-bat. Angel Martinez made it 4-1 in the seventh with his 14th career homer.

In the eighth inning, Angel Martinez went 2-for-4, driving in two runs, including his 14th career homer. The Blue Jays managed only one run off Williams in the fifth inning, with rookie Kazuma Okamoto scoring on a wild pitch by the Guardians' catcher.
