Uttar Pradesh To Create 1,000-Expert Network To Turn Cow Dung Into Energy, Organic Fertiliser And Rural Income

Lucknow, September 3, 2026 - In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is spearheading a groundbreaking initiative to transform cow dung into renewable energy, organic fertilizers, and rural income. Under this program, a technical cooperation MoU has been established between the Uttar Pradesh Goseva Aayog and 'Partners in Prosperity' (PNP). This collaboration aims to convert cow dung from gaushalas into clean energy, bio-slurry, organic fertilizers, and natural farming inputs.

The technical cooperation will support Deenbandhu Model Biogas Plants already constructed, as well as facilitate the establishment of new plants across the state. A network of approximately 1,000 technical experts will be created to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and monitoring of these biogas plants. These experts will provide support for biogas project development, construction, operation, and field monitoring, ensuring local technical assistance for the effective functioning of the plants.

Beyond biogas production, the initiative envisions the development of an entire value chain, including bio-slurry, organic fertilizers, bio-inputs, natural and regenerative agriculture, and potential carbon benefits. By converting cow dung into various resources, the program aims to create a circular economy within gaushalas, benefiting farmers, rural families, and the environment. This approach seeks to generate employment, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, and promote sustainable agriculture.

The chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Goseva Aayog, Shyam Bihari Gupta, emphasized that cow dung should not be considered waste but a valuable resource. This initiative aligns with the Yogi Government's cow protection model, which seeks to link cattle protection with economic growth. By transforming gaushala resources into clean energy and organic fertilizers, the program aims to create economic opportunities for farmers and rural communities while promoting productive utilization of gaushala resources.
