Usman Khawaja Reveals Why He Would Hesitate to Coach Pakistan

Former Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has voiced his reservations about taking on the role of head coach for the Pakistan national team. In an interview with Backward Point Pod, Khawaja cited the ongoing instability within Pakistan cricket as the primary reason for his hesitance. He noted that the frequent changes in coaching staff, selectors, and players have created an atmosphere of uncertainty, making it difficult for him to envision himself in such a position.

Khawaja stressed that stability needs to be established from the top of the system before he would consider coaching Pakistan. He also highlighted the continuous turnover of the national squad, with some of the country's best players frequently moving in and out of the team. Khawaja expressed that if there were more stability in the future, he might reconsider the offer.

His remarks come amid significant changes made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following losses to England in the first two Tests at Headingley and Lord’s. The PCB recently stripped seven players and two coaches of their roles, with new members set to take charge for the final Test match in Birmingham.
