US investigating if missile hit Iran wedding, Vance says

US military is probing allegations that a missile strike killed four individuals, including two children, at a wedding in southern Iran, according to Vice-President JD Vance. The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that shrapnel from a missile struck a home in Sirik during the wedding ceremony on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to at least 67 people.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei labeled the incident as a war crime. The US, however, denied targeting civilians and stated that its missiles were fired in response to attempted attacks by Iran on American forces. US Central Command spokesperson affirmed that the US never targets civilians. During a White House briefing on Thursday, Vance expressed deep skepticism regarding the reported strike but confirmed that the US military would investigate the incident.

Iran claims that the US strike resulted in the deaths of four individuals, describing it as a war crime, while the US denies targeting civilians. Iran has retaliated with fresh attacks on US bases in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates in response to the alleged strike.
