A jury in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial remains divided, preventing the jury from reaching a verdict, her lawyer claimed in court on Thursday. After deliberating for six days on whether to convict the Massachusetts woman of killing her three young children, the jury sent Judge William Sullivan a note that prompted him to re-explain what constitutes "reasonable doubt."

Juror Kevin Reddington moved to have a holdout juror removed, stating that the jury foreman indicated "one juror who refuses to listen to the law on reasonable doubt." However, the judge declined to remove the juror. If the jury fails to reach a verdict, prosecutors would need to decide whether to retry the case, which involved over 80 witnesses and more than 300 exhibits.

Prosecutors argue that despite Clancy's mental health struggles, she was capable of understanding the wrongfulness of her actions and intentionally killed her children. Clancy faces life in prison without parole if convicted of first-degree murder.
