TH Properties unit ex-manager hit with three CBT charges

In Kuala Lumpur on September 3, a former Health and Safety Manager at THP Bina Sdn Bhd, Nasahruddin Ahmad, was formally charged in the Sessions Court with three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT). These charges relate to the misuse of RM72,000 in penalty funds collected in connection with a proposed Putrajaya office complex development project.

Nasahruddin, who was 56 at the time, entered a plea of not guilty to all charges, which were read out individually before Judge Rosli Ahmad. THP Bina Bhd is a wholly owned subsidiary of TH Properties Sdn Bhd, which itself is a subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji. The company specializes in construction and project management. According to the charges, Nasahruddin, who held the position of Health and Safety Manager, allegedly misappropriated the funds by depositing them into his personal bank account.

The penalty funds were tied to three development projects in Putrajaya's Precinct 3: PT 12081 (Block A - a 10-storey office, Block B - a 9-storey office, an auditorium, and three basement parking levels); PT 12075 (Block C - a 7-storey office and two basement parking levels); and PT 12074 (Block D - a 9-storey office and two basement parking levels).

The alleged misconduct took place at the Putrajaya Islamic Complex in Precinct 3 between April 26, 2013, and August 12, 2015. The charges under Section 409 of the Penal Code carry a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.
