Texans rookie CB Collin Wright on staying in NFL: 'My time in college expired'

College football is facing challenges, with some players opting to return to college after making the NFL due to legal complexities. Cornerback Collin Wright, a member of the Houston Texans' initial 53-man roster, did not entertain such thoughts, as he had aspirations of becoming a professional. Wright acknowledged that a few friends were contemplating the same decision, but he remained focused on his goal of excelling in the NFL.

He stated that his college days had come to an end and he was ready to progress. Wright learned of his selection to the Texans' 53-man roster via the team's Instagram, like many others who discovered the news through social media. Wright spent four years at Stanford, where he recorded 36 appearances and 144 total tackles, 10 sacks for loss, and three interceptions.

In his final year, he achieved his first pick-six. This move has proven advantageous for Wright, as the Texans boast one of the NFL's strongest defenses. He now has the opportunity to learn from the team's coaching staff and players, including All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. The Texans will kick off their regular season against the Buffalo Bills on September 13 at home.
