Tadej Pogacar chances of being fit for World Championships described as 'not realistic'

Tadej Pogacar, the UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider, has been released from the hospital following a crash during the Vuelta a Espana. However, his chances of competing in the upcoming World Championships are considered "not realistic" by his doctors. The Emirati team described the successful surgery on his broken collarbone as "good" and stated that Pogacar would be monitored for a few days before returning home to Monaco.

While his release from the hospital is a positive sign, his recovery process remains uncertain, and there is no official announcement regarding his participation in the rest of the season. Pogacar had planned to defend his Road World Championships title in Montreal, as well as participate in the European Championships on October 4 and the Il Lombardia race six days later.

However, his doctors, including Slovenian national team doctor Kristof Knap, are not confident that he will be fit enough to race so soon. Pogacar's countryman and teammate, Domen Nova, also expressed doubts about his ability to compete in Montreal. Despite the setback, Pogacar's management emphasized that the rider's health and well-being are the top priorities, with no pressure to rush his recovery.
