SWR Generates ₹805.7 Cr Gross Revenue in August 2026; Cumulative Performance Crosses ₹3,850 Crore

In August 2026, SWR generated a gross revenue of ₹805.7 crore, marking a year-to-date cumulative earnings total of ₹3,850.05 crore, representing a 2.45% year-over-year increase. The zone's freight loading reached an all-time high of 4.48 million tonnes (MT) in August, marking a 6.3% growth compared to the previous year. This surge in freight was primarily driven by energy and heavy industrial raw materials, with coal loading increasing by 37.4% to 1.03 MT and steel commodities growing by 18.1% to 1.11 MT.

Other sectors such as cement, container traffic, and mineral oil transportation also saw notable growth. The cumulative freight loading for the financial year 2026-27 has now climbed to 21.67 MT, a 5.8% year-over-year increase. SWR's diverse and resilient fiscal foundation is primarily driven by iron ore, which contributed 8.48 MT in August, marking a 4.8% annual expansion.

Other commodities like steel and coal transport lines also showed strong growth, with steel transport increasing by 7.6% and coal transport by 9.7%. The food grains sector delivered an unprecedented 118.4% increase, handling 0.083 MT compared to 0.038 MT in the previous year, while balance of other goods rose by 29.6% to 1.08 MT.

Passenger train operations generated ₹348.97 crore in August, contributing to a phenomenal 13.51% year-over-year growth in total cumulative passenger revenue, now standing at ₹1,552.7 crore. General Manager P Ananth commended the workforce and officers for their commendable achievement in freight loading and earnings.
