Supreme Court backs subtitles, audio descriptions for disabled audiences

The Judicial Service has extended its heartfelt thanks to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for its comprehensive and complimentary coverage of events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court. On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the Supreme Court’s 150th Anniversary Committee paid a courtesy visit to GBC management to express their sincere appreciation.

The event, themed "Celebrating the Present and Defining the Future," was graced by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court at 150 Anniversary Planning Committee, Justice Richard Adjei, who emphasized GBC's crucial role in disseminating information and providing live coverage and streaming of key events. Justice Adjei highlighted GBC's invaluable support, which was instrumental in ensuring the events were accessible to the public without incurring any cost to the Judiciary of Ghana.

The anniversary aimed to enhance public understanding of the Supreme Court's role and solicit feedback, with continued initiatives such as the moot court competition and Bar-Bench engagement with market women. Prof. Amin Alhassan, GBC's Director-General, affirmed the Corporation's commitment to serving the three branches of government, acknowledging the Supreme Court as the least demanding yet most appreciated.

GBC's Director-General and President of the Ghana Bar Association, Efua Ghartey, praised GBC for its dedication, emphasizing that media coverage is indispensable for such celebrations.
