SpiceJet adds Boeing, Airbus muscle for winters

SpiceJet has finalized lease agreements to add 20 aircraft, consisting of 15 Boeing and 5 Airbus planes, to its fleet between mid-October and mid-November. This expansion aims to bolster capacity ahead of the winter and year-end holiday travel seasons. The aircraft will be inducted under damp and wet lease arrangements, with the lessor supplying the planes along with crew and maintenance support in damp leases, and complete crew, insurance, and maintenance in wet leases.

Among the five Airbus aircraft, the A321 variant, with higher seating capacity, will be introduced to deploy more seats on high-demand routes during peak travel periods. With the new aircraft joining the fleet, SpiceJet targets 200 daily flights for the upcoming holidays and winter schedule. This expanded capacity is expected to enhance stability in the market, ease pressure on airfares during peak demand, and support operations through the winter and into the following summer travel season.
