Sakaja lists 3 major achievements since he became Nairobi governor

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja revealed three significant accomplishments since assuming office as the city's leader. During a podcast on Thursday, September 3, 2026, he detailed improvements in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), the school feeding program, and the expansion of healthcare infrastructure as his major achievements.

Firstly, Sakaja highlighted the transformation of the CBD, noting the presence of paved walkways, street lighting, and restored order. He emphasized that these changes have given the city center a sense of dignity and improved the experience for visitors.

Secondly, he praised the county's school feeding program, which has allowed students in public schools to receive meals during lunchtime. Sakaja urged critics to witness the program firsthand by visiting any of the over 200 schools that benefit from it, stating that this was a completely new development.

Thirdly, Sakaja pointed to the establishment of a neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) at Mbagathi Hospital as his third major achievement. He stressed that Nairobi had no such facilities before his tenure, and the county had previously depended on larger hospitals like Kenyatta National Hospital for such services. Sakaja's background as a senator and his role in the national response to Covid-19 contributed to this healthcare advancement.

Sakaja also pointed towards further infrastructure improvements, including a paved walkway from ABC Place to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), designed with accessibility for people with disabilities in mind. He challenged skeptics to visit the listed projects themselves to assess the positive changes in the city.
