Qatar to host global conference on AI and engineering, construction sectors

Doha, Qatar: An international conference will convene in Doha on October 4 to explore how artificial intelligence and digital technology are transforming engineering and construction sectors. Sponsered by the Qatar Society of Engineers, the Qatar Building Information Modeling (BIM) Conference will gather engineers, architects, consultants, government officials, academics, and private-sector representatives.

The conference will center around Building Information Modeling, a digital methodology that integrates and manages data about construction projects throughout their life cycles. BIM promises to enhance project planning, construction, and asset management, as well as bolster coordination among project parties.

Beyond BIM, the event will also investigate regulations and standards surrounding its use in civil and industrial projects, including its integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). AI is slated to be another major focus, with discussions on how emerging technologies can aid in predicting project risks, cost monitoring, and engineering decisions. Moreover, the conference will evaluate the role of digital tools in promoting environmental and architectural sustainability.

Organizers anticipate over 120 participants, including engineers, architects, project managers, developers, researchers, and students. Dr. Amna Al Naama, Chair of the Qatar Society of Engineers, emphasized the society's commitment to staying abreast of rapid technological advancements in their fields. Al Naama highlighted BIM as a crucial component of contemporary project delivery, facilitating seamless integration across project stages and participants.
