PSX Partners with UK’s MOBILIST Program to Boost Sustainable Investment

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has team up with the UK's MOBILIST initiative to draw more private capital into Pakistan's eco-friendly ventures and climate-focused initiatives via securities offerings. MOBILIST, a UK-developed finance program, invests in securities listed on public markets in emerging and developing nations to channel private funds towards sustainable development.

The partnership will see MOBILIST collaborating with PSX-listed entities and intermediaries to pinpoint securities that meet its criteria for support. MOBILIST can contribute equity funding, technical aid, and consultancy services for initial public offerings (IPOs) and the creation of fresh securities in Pakistan. Alison Blackburne, Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, noted that this collaboration would direct private capital towards entities tackling climate and development issues, citing the Parwaaz Green Action Bond as a prime example of how public markets and development finance can unite to attract private investment.

PSX Managing Director and CEO, Farrukh H. Sabzwari, disclosed that qualifying enterprises would have access to equity financing, technical guidance, consultancy services, and increased exposure as they prepare for listing. He also emphasized that this partnership would facilitate the introduction of more sustainable businesses onto Pakistan's public markets, thereby supporting projects that align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and net-zero commitments.
