Playoff sting still fresh, Ole Miss braces for Louisville in the week’s lone ranked matchup

(AP) — Ole Miss Coach Pete Golding emphasized the importance of facing No. 24 Louisville in this week's only ranked matchup, recalling how the Rebels were eliminated from the playoffs by Miami in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Ole Miss finished the season with a 13-2 record and secured the fourth spot in the final AP Top 25.

Coach Jeff Brohm from Louisville, who retooled his team with 34 players through the transfer portal, notes that Ole Miss must prepare for a battle-tested team. Brohm highlighted Louisville's strong performance last year, thanks to their return of a Heisman-contending quarterback and running back.

Ole Miss has showcased their talent, with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy being promoted to Heisman Trophy contenders.
