Pemuda bimbang PAS-Umno kembali bertelagah, tuntut penyatuan ‘tak bermusim’

Ketua Pemuda PAS Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has voiced concerns over PAS and Umno uniting again, urging the formation of the partnership based on the best interests of the people and not solely driven by political fragmentation. Speaking at the 67th Muktamar Dewan Pemuda PAS, Afnan stressed that unity should not be seasonal, emphasizing that they cannot unite when they desire victory and then disperse after winning.

He added that unity should persist even when faced with common adversaries and dissolve when political interests change.

Afnan lamented the failure of the National Unity Front (MN) in the past, warning against repeating the same mistakes. He attributed the division to self-serving groups and the rise of ego-driven individuals, irrespective of their affiliation, that fuel further fragmentation. He reiterated the need for consistent unity, noting that the political landscape is ever-changing, and what seemed impossible in the past may become reality with the willingness to find common ground, citing the presence of a PN representative at the Muktamar.

Afnan highlighted the potential for cooperation between Malay-Islam parties, referencing recent developments in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, where the PAS President Hadi Awang signaled support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates without opposition from PAS. He encouraged Pemuda PAS to ensure the continuity of the unity seeds already planted by previous generations, emphasizing that the journey has begun and their responsibility to nurture this unity is paramount.
