Pas-Umno unity must not be seasonal - Afnan Hamimi

KOTA BARU: Pas Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden emphasized that the unity between Pas and Umno should not be a seasonal occurrence, rising only during election seasons and fading once they conclude. He advocated for a relationship that goes beyond political interests and election cycles, and is not only activated when there is a common enemy, but persists even when political interests shift.

Afnan stressed unity does not imply sidelining other groups, asserting that striving for the Malay-Muslim community's welfare should not infringe upon the rights of other races and religions. The youth of Pas and Umno have already begun collaborating, functioning as a bridge for greater ummah unity. Though they may hail from different parties and political backgrounds, when core ummah interests are involved, they must strive for shared ground that unifies them.

This relationship has already shown promise, emerging from Johor and flourishing in Negri Sembilan, hinting at its potential for continued growth. Afnan stressed that nurturing these relations requires more than mere coincidence or forced circumstances; it demands deliberate nurturing.
