Pas Muslimat urged to strengthen geopolitical knowledge, lead international discourse

KOTA BARU: Pas Muslimat must enhance their geopolitical understanding and become leaders in international discussions to unite Muslim women through knowledge and strategic capabilities, according to Nuridah Mohd Salleh, the chief of the Pas Central Muslimat wing. The wing's participation in humanitarian missions and its Muslimat International Solidarity initiatives have established international networks to address issues in Palestine, Sudan, Afghanistan, and Yemen, among others.

Nuridah highlighted the importance of Muslim women assuming leadership roles during conflicts, economic challenges, and shifts in global geopolitics. She emphasized the need for more Muslimat members with expertise in geopolitics, international law, global economics, and cross-border communications to strengthen the role of Muslim women in international discourse.

Nuridah also pointed out that women's participation in global politics remains imbalanced, with only 27.5% of parliamentary seats and 22.4% of cabinet positions held by women worldwide. The Pas Central Muslimat wing aims to bring together qualified and capable women to ensure stronger female representation in politics, in line with the goal of at least 30% female representation in state legislative assemblies, the Dewan Rakyat, and the Dewan Negara.
