Panthers sign former Browns RB, local product to practice squad

On Thursday, the Carolina Panthers announced they had signed running back Ahmani Marshall to their 2026 practice squad. Marshall was waived by the Cleveland Browns earlier in the week as part of their cutdown to the initial 53-man roster. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Marshall played his college football at both Wake Forest University (2020 to 2021) and Appalachian State University (2022 to 2024).

During his five seasons of collegiate football, he accumulated 1,288 yards and 13 touchdowns on 274 rushing attempts. The Panthers drafted Marshall as an undrafted free agent in 2025, but he primarily spent his rookie season on their practice squad before re-signing with the team on a reserve/future deal in January. To accommodate Marshall's signing, the Panthers released offensive lineman Isaia Glass.
