Osun Assembly passes UNIOSUN Establishment Amendment Bill

The Osun State House of Assembly has approved the Osun State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026. The legislation was adopted in a full plenary session on Thursday after Deputy Majority Leader Adekunle Emmanuel moved the motion, which was seconded by Sanni Areoye representing Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West State Constituencies.

Prior to the passage, the Assembly convened a Committee of the Whole for additional scrutiny of the proposed amendments and corrections. Once the Committee deemed the suggested changes appropriate, they were incorporated into the final version of the legislation.

Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun expressed his satisfaction with the passage, stating that the amended law would bolster public interest in Osun State University and create avenues for seasoned professionals to contribute to the university system. He emphasized, "The bill will allow the inspiration of others to contribute to the development of the institution."

Furthermore, Egbedun announced that the Assembly would swiftly handle the necessary administrative procedures and deliver the final version of the bill to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
