Ojo: Atiku’s Subsidy Reversal Pledge a Political Statement Taken Too Far

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, spoke about President Bola Tinubu's governance style and the strides made under the Renewed Hope Agenda in the housing sector. Ojo praised Tinubu's capacity and competence, highlighting his success in laying strong economic and infrastructural foundations.

The President has been credited for infrastructure development across the country and creating a good economic blueprint, although some challenges still persist.

Regarding security, Ojo refuted claims that the situation is worsening, pointing out the coordinated efforts that led to the rescue of school children and teachers in Oyo State and the effectiveness of the Nigerian Army and coordination among various security networks. He emphasized the need to appreciate President Tinubu's contributions to security despite some exaggerated reports by political pessimists.

The administration's economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies, have been criticized. Ojo dismissed these criticisms as ignorance or political sentiment, explaining that the policies aimed to reset Nigeria's economy through structural reforms. The removal of fuel subsidies, unification of exchange rates, and reduction of government deficits were all part of these policies, with the goal of improving long-term growth.

Although initial hitches were experienced, Ojo believed that the policies would yield positive results in the long run, freeing up public funds for infrastructure and other developments.
