NY Jets host former second-round pick Will Levis and UFL MVP for quarterback workout

The New York Jets recently held quarterback workouts, inviting both former second-round pick Will Levis and UFL MVP Jack Plummer to audition for a spot on the practice squad. According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, the role being offered is a position on the practice squad. The Jets currently have Geno Smith and rookie Cade Klubnik, but they are looking to add more depth behind them.

Levis, 27, was selected by the Titans in the second round of the 2023 draft and has had a fluctuating career since then. After an impressive first nine games, he became a turnover machine in 2024, leading to Tennessee drafting Cam Ward as their No. 1 pick in 2025. Levis was later lost to a season-ending injury and subsequently cut by the Titans, making him a free agent.

Despite possessing a strong arm and the athleticism to make plays with his legs, Levis has faced inconsistency issues throughout his career, with an NFL record of 5-16 in 21 starts, 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He even lost the QB2 battle with Mitchell Trubisky during the preseason. Jack Plummer, 26, was another quarterback who worked out for the Jets.

An undrafted free agent in the NFL, Plummer spent the previous season in the UFL, where he led the league in passing yards (2,188) and touchdown passes (17), earning him the UFL MVP title. Plummer's experience in the UFL could be an added value for the Jets as they prepare for their season opener against the Titans on September 13, a game where he has already familiarized himself with the opposing team's offense under Brian Daboll.
