Nvidia sets October launch for RTX Spark AI PCs

Nvidia announced on Thursday that Lenovo and Acer will introduce the first Windows PCs equipped with its RTX Spark chip in October. The company is striving to integrate AI capabilities directly into laptops and desktop computers to reduce the costs of cloud-based services, enhance privacy, and improve responsiveness by processing tasks locally on users' devices.

Following a three-year partnership, Nvidia unveiled the RTX Spark in June as part of a collaboration with Microsoft to rekindle the PC landscape for the AI era. Developed in conjunction with Taiwan’s MediaTek, the chip combines a Blackwell graphics processor with a Grace central processor.

Industry giants are gravitating towards on-device AI to decrease reliance on cloud services, bolster privacy, and expedite responsiveness through local task processing. Apple recently refreshed its Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops with its latest M-series chips, which can run larger AI models and autonomous AI agents locally.
