NLNG/SEPNU leads as domestic cooking gas supply rises

In July 2026, Nigeria's domestic cooking gas supply rose to 5,332 tonnes per day, as revealed by data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). The National Oil Company of Nigeria (NLNG) and its subsidiaries, SEPNU, emerged as the largest contributors, supplying 2,031 tonnes per day through vessels, making up about 38% of the total supply.

Other processing plants contributed 1,513 tonnes per day via trucks, while the Dangote Petroleum Refinery added 829 tonnes per day. Imports accounted for the remaining 959 tonnes per day. This domestic supply accounted for 82% of the total LPG supply in July, the highest recorded in the previous 13 months. LPG supply levels have been steadily increasing since December 2025, despite prices remaining above the N1,000 per kilogramme mark due to supply shortages and artificial scarcity.
