Nat'l football body opens disciplinary case against referee over alleged remark on player

The Korea Football Association (KFA) has launched a disciplinary investigation into a referee accused of making a sexually harassing remark towards a player. The controversy stems from an incident during a match last Friday where referee Bae Sun-young allegedly told another official, "She has been sensitive from early on. She must be on her period."

This claim was made by Ji So-yun, a player from Suwon FC Women in the WK League, who alleged that Bae made the comment in response to her protesting an earlier non-call. Upon hearing the remark, Ji confronted Bae, who allegedly then gave her a yellow card. Bae initially denied making such a comment but later stated that her words were not directed at any specific player and that she was merely engaging in friendly conversation with another official.

The KFA has taken the allegation seriously, stating they will take measures to prevent similar incidents and promote a culture of mutual respect between players and officials in women's football.
