Mutfwang summons security meeting over attacks, killings in Plateau

On Wednesday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State convened a meeting of the State Security Council to evaluate the security situation in his state. The gathering took place at the New Government House in Jos, following a series of recent attacks and killings in various Plateau communities. The meeting focused on emerging security threats, intelligence gathering and sharing, preventive operations, inter-agency collaboration, and strategies to protect lives, property, and economic activities.

Commissioner of Police for Plateau State Command, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, announced the arrest of suspects linked to some of the major attacks in the state during the past month. Investigations were ongoing to apprehend additional suspects. Faniyan emphasized that the Governor convened the meeting as part of his commitment to ensuring the state's safety and peace. He stated that Governor Mutfwang, as the Chief Security Officer, regularly reviewed security situations to enhance existing measures and prevent future incidents.

Faniyan highlighted the collaboration between state and national security agencies and the deployment of technological tools to analyze intelligence and track suspects. He assured residents that security agencies had received directives from the Governor to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property. He appealed for residents' cooperation in providing timely and credible information about suspicious activities, emphasizing that effective security depended on cooperation between security forces and the public.

The Security Council meeting aimed to strengthen intelligence-led and preventive security measures to identify and neutralize threats before they escalated. Governor Mutfwang remained committed to maintaining peace and security as a foundation for economic activities in Plateau State.
