Mumbai Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Books 2 BMC K/West Ward Employees In ₹60,000 Bribery Case

Mumbai's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked two employees from the K/West ward of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for allegedly demanding bribes amounting to ₹60,000 from a bakery businessman. Niravkumar Jaisur, a 43-year-old sub-engineer, and Vijay Patil, a 46-year-old staffer at the K/West Ward, are accused of demanding the bribe to ensure the businessman could operate his business without facing any regulatory action.

According to the ACB, the complainant sought to continue his bakery business without regulatory complications. When the complainant refused to pay the bribe, he reported the incident to the ACB. During the investigation, it was discovered that Vijay Patil demanded a bribe of ₹70,000 from the complainant and arranged a meeting with Sub-Engineer Jaisur. During this meeting, Jaisur demanded a bribe of ₹60,000 from the complainant.

On Wednesday, the ACB conducted a trap operation and apprehended Vijay Patil while he was accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 near the ground floor elevator of the K/West Ward Office. Sub-Engineer Jaisur was also taken into custody during his personal search, resulting in the seizure of two mobile phones. Additionally, cash worth ₹40,820 was found during the search of Vijay Patil's person, and cash worth ₹2,37,600 was discovered in his bag.
