Muhyiddin’s counsel disputes businessman’s account of Jana Wibawa meeting

Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin's legal team has contested the claims made by businessman Amer Hamzah Arshad regarding a meeting with one of Muhyiddin's officers in 2020 to discuss the Jana Wibawa programme. Amer's witness statement stated that Muhyiddin's deputy private secretary, Asmar Asmadi Abdullah Sani, had shown him a list of 10 government-approved Jana Wibawa projects, which Azman claimed was fabricated.

Azman disagreed, stating that Muhyiddin had only verbally mentioned the term "Jana Wibawa" during a private meeting at the Tropicana Golf Club in mid-July 2020, and only started using it after Muhyiddin minuted a letter from the finance minister on August 3, 2020. Amer suggested that this information was directed by the prosecution, and Azman did not provide any evidence to support the claim.

Additionally, Azman's assertion that he submitted a letter to Muhyiddin in September 2020 seeking support for a road construction project was challenged, as there was no evidence to show support from Muhyiddin, nor any acknowledgement of receipt from the PMO or the finance ministry.
