'Mr Toilet' Jack Sim criticises super cosy urinal layout at Farrer Park MRT station toilet

Sanitation activist Jack Sim has voiced criticism over the design of men's toilets at Farrer Park MRT station. In a Facebook post dated September 2, Sim highlighted the layout's impracticality, stating that it is impossible for two individuals to stand back-to-back without touching. He also pointed out that if the front two urinals are occupied, no one can access the rest. Sim further explained that if someone uses the last urinal at the back, they would have to wait for the person in the first urinal to finish.

The activist questioned how this design managed to pass through various stages of bureaucracy, including architect, contractor, and client, despite its flaws. He also urged the public to share photos of similarly illogical or impractical toilet arrangements. Sim posed a thought-provoking question, asking if operations can be successful while still resulting in failure, metaphorically represented by the metaphor "the patient is dead."

In response to Mothership's inquiries, SBS Transit acknowledged the matter and is currently reviewing possible improvements to the toilet layout. However, any renovations must be carefully planned to minimize inconvenience to commuters. The spokesperson emphasized that the review process may take some time and requested public patience and understanding.
