In an interview with The Guardian, Mr. T criticized the documentary for its coverage and perceived distortions of his life. He accused the documentary's director, Scott Weintrob, of glossing over positive aspects of his life, such as his philanthropic work and advocacy efforts, in favor of more sensational moments from his career.

Mr. T was particularly upset about the documentary's portrayal of his role in the film Freaked, as well as its inclusion of his former agent, Pete Young, who criticized Mr. T's participation in the project.
