Micky Dolenz Teases New ‘Timeless’ EP ‘Refers to the 60 Years of The Monkees, of Course’

Micky Dolenz, the last surviving member of The Monkees, has revealed plans for a new EP titled "Timeless" set to be released on September 4. Having amassed a vast catalog of songs throughout his career, Dolenz, now 81, is content to embrace fresh material when presented with it. Speaking to Billboard, the 81-year-old singer, actor, writer, and director quipped, "Well, I guess somebody just wanted to keep recording me — there’s no accounting to taste."

Dolenz, who has been recording solo for decades, explained that he goes by his gut instinct when deciding whether to record new music. The EP will feature six tracks, with the project's inception coming from John Hughes, a former Rhino Records executive and current head of Near Mint Music, who reached out to Dolenz with a collection of songs from notable artists, including Andy Partridge of XTC, Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne, Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, Vicki Peterson of The Bangles, Sam Hollander, Shelby Lynn, and Jonny Polonsky.
