Media, Wildlife activists take part in health walk

A group of sports journalists and civil society organisations participated in a bird walk at the Legon Botanical Gardens on Saturday to mark the Sustainability Month celebration of MTN Ghana. The event, organized by MTN Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Wildlife Society (GWS), aimed to deepen participants' understanding of biodiversity and the importance of environmental conservation.

The walk began with an aerobic session to help participants prepare for the nearly three-hour journey through the garden. Dr Sandra Owusu-Gyamfi, the Executive Director of GWS, emphasized the need to reduce plastic use and its harmful impact on marine life and the ecosystem. She also highlighted the crucial role birds play in nature, serving as important examples of peaceful coexistence and urging participants to develop a deeper appreciation for these creatures.

Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, MTN's Acting General Manager of Sustainability, described the walk as an opportunity to reconnect with nature and strengthen relationships among colleagues. MTN's Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Efua Falconer, noted that the company remains committed to promoting sustainability and responsible environmental practices, encouraging media partners to stay informed and share in such initiatives.
