MBS takes action against premises dumping waste into stream

In a recent development, Seremban City Council (MBS) has taken action against a premises that was discharging liquid waste into a stream near Kampung Kayu Ara, Mambau. The issue came to light following complaints from residents regarding the foul-smelling river pollution that was affecting the community. MBS Mayor Datuk Masri Baharuddin announced the raid on the premises following the complaints and subsequent investigations.

The Law and Enforcement Department conducted an inspection at the suspected premises, where they seized several pieces of equipment, including a water compressor, an induction motor, and three fuses, which were believed to be causing the pollution and emitting the foul odor. The investigation revealed that the foul smell originated from the premises, which was processing animal offal into fish feed.

The owner of the property was not present during the inspection, while the workers were found discharging liquid waste into the nearby stream during the raid.

In response to the findings, MBS issued a compound for operating without a license, seized the equipment, and displayed a notice ordering the premises to cease operations. A follow-up inspection confirmed that the premises had complied with the notice by ceasing operations, and the foreign workers had left the location. The Department of Environment's Forensics Unit and the Immigration Department also assisted in the operation.
