Malad West Road Accident: Family, Friends Protest Over Alleged 'Police Favouritism' Towards Accused

Mumbai, September 3, 2026 - Family members, friends, and a politician gathered on Thursday at Malad police station to protest against the alleged leniency shown to Krishna Chamankar, accused of causing the death of 35-year-old former lawyer Priyanka Satra and injuring others in a fatal accident. The demonstration, organized to demand "Justice for Priyanka" and strict action against Chamankar, also sought the suspension of two police officials who allegedly favored Chamankar.

Priyanka's husband, Mayank Shah, attended the protest alongside BJP-nominated corporator Pravin Chheda, who called for an independent inquiry into the police's conduct and demanded strict prosecution of Chamankar. Chheda alleged that Chamankar received preferential treatment, including being allowed to use his mobile phone in the lock-up and being given bail within two hours after a second accident occurred in the city, where the police applied stringent sections and arrested the accused immediately.
