Lenovo’s new Android tablets get 7 years of updates, flagship chips, and 4K displays

Lenovo has unveiled its latest lineup of flagship Yoga Android tablets, set to launch alongside powerful laptops and a potential MacBook Neo competitor. During the Innovation World event at IFA, the company announced two new tablets slated for release this month. The Yoga Tab Gen 2 boasts an 11.1-inch 4K display, MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, Android 17 pre-installed, an 11,000 mAh battery, and support for up to 128GB or 256GB of storage with microSD card compatibility. Weighing just 8.56mm thin, this tablet is expected to retail for $729.99.

In contrast, the Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 offers a larger 13-inch 4K display, Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage (expandable up to 16GB/512GB with a microSD card). Boasting a 12,700 mAh battery and a slightly thinner profile at 8.27mm, this tablet is priced at $999.99.

Both devices come equipped with a status LED/screen/thing, primarily decorative but capable of syncing with music, videos, and games. Lenovo has also integrated its AI suite into the tablets, along with new features such as the Tab Pen Pro 2 stylus. Users can take advantage of various functionalities including Squeeze to Create, Double Tap, Click pen tail to Draw, Double-click pen tail to Record, and Flip to Erase.

Additionally, the tablets are equipped with keyboards; the Plus model features a convenient one-step magnetic keyboard clamshell.

With a commitment to long-term support, Lenovo promises seven years of Android updates, extending through Android 24 and up to seven years of security updates through 2033.
